if you've got access to a telescope have a look at the western sky in the early evening
venus mars and saturn are visible at the moment
you've gotta see saturn before you die - it is absolutely exquisite
i cannot speak for the others, but i know that i am missing ur video diary creations that u so perfected during the U.S. tour. passing 50 blog responses for the last entry was great. what is ur record for responses- i could only guess- maybe 85? it must be amazing- the beauty of nature that surrounds u. all we have here in Chicago related to sea creatures are the asian carp that is popping up in our rivers and streams. if they make it in2 Lake Michigan-they will eat everything- they are insane eating machines and grow to ridiculous sizes. they are destructive predators.

a couple of years ago we were on vacation in florida. the house was on a little canal that let out into the bay. every night at about 7 a group of dolphins would come through and spend about thirty minutes playing, jumping, smacking the water with their tail fins right in front of us...solely for our entertainment it seemed. i know it wasn't...it was just their routine...but anyway, it was amazing watching them every day. i didn't want to leave...majestic creatures they are.

Such moments of bliss escape description (if you are not SK of course, in which case finding the right words is not a problem). I recall one moment of sunset in my eyes in Iceland, many years ago... I remember and cherish every single moment of beauty I have experienced- and one has got to have clear eyes to see and enjoy. Life is indeed what you make it.

A few years ago, we were thrilled to watch a couple of Northern Right whales cavorting about 500 feet off Cocoa Beach for over 20 minutes. One of the times the word "awesome" was truly appropriate!
If the movie is playing in your area, I hope you and your girls will go see "Despicable Me". It is worth driving a few more miles and paying a little more to see in 3D -Not at all disorienting like the 3D was in Avatar. You will think it was custom made for you - It's about a guy and 3 little girls! It is delightful, clever, funny and heartwarming. Just what the doctor ordered for a fellow who is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Don't miss the closing credits - another appropriate use of "awesome"!
For a movie with lots of children in attendance, the children were quiet except for laughing at the funny parts, and it is the first time I have ever heard children applaud at the end of a movie.
Must see!

Umm...Talk Talk reference...the band that evolved more than any band across just 5 albums. TT's just a damn fine band. Really enjoyed discovering them (those last 2 albums "Spirit Of Eden" and "Laughing Stock" sound like nothing I have in my entire catalog of music.)
Moby Dick is one of my most favourite stories. The true majesty of the whale.

Glad you are having a good day. I so miss the beach - grew up on coast with all that, and now I am inland, and the oil companies have/are killing it all. The stories of dead whales and dolphis in the Gulf of Mexico is more than heartbreaking. I cried for weeks, and even today for the sadness of it all. But moving on .... it's all you can do.
I was going to write a really interesting reply to your last entry, but I'm slow and now you've gone and already made a new entry and so I'm screwed! :D I googled Simon Starling, but I'm guessing this isn't the British artist, Simon Starling. Doesn't sound like he's musical.

These moments of perfect appreciation of the natural world around you are the reason that I love hiking/trekking.
The methodical nature of just walking for 8 or 9 hours a day gives you time to think, even in rugged terrain, but sometimes you get to a point where you just stop thinking about how tired you are, or how hard it is to breath (at high altitude) and just absorb the world around you. Of course these experiences often occur amidst stunning scenery, which makes them even more special. When it happens it is pure bliss.
