elysium

rest in pieces
some otherworld
some before n afterlife
wind sings in the reeds
reeds sing in the wind
everything i touch turns to spirit
no winter here
the forest is alive
the waving fields of wheat and barley
golden summer day stretch endlessly
purple summer night move through me
friend, swim in cool lakes of dream
etruscan wife
she tramples the bursting grape
horses crop the grass contentedly
my scars heal leaving a silver mark on the brown skin
my children play out there in the dusk
i can hear their plainsong
i can feel their pleasure
the different stars shine in the sky
the different birds sing in the different trees
midnight comes without darkness
noon arrives without its heat
mercy in my hands to bestow
patience in my heart to choose
my patron goddess hidden in clear view
pallas athena swift as light
move towards me smiling still
lily white
eyes black as night
hair lustrous falling in coils of jet
wielding wisdom as her shield
evenings of marvel
mornings of grace

Such a beautiful vision you send us with your words. I think the view you have of your children playing and singing in such a colourful setting would make an awesome painting???

Essence of SK, setting the tone for my day.

"She" is all around you. Poetry heals like nothing else can. Such truth that lies within the imagination. All that is light is deep within. Ever guiding us onward. I am listening to the patron goddess whispering in my ear.

I like this.

Some lovely turns of phrase as usual.
"patience in my heart to choose"

Simple pleasures are the best ones.

Steve,

Great read today, I wanted to take a minute to say Happy Fathers Day. We celebrate that her in the states today. I hope all is well with you and your family. Looking forward to the new site and your new releases. Martin has The Broken Sea on his blog and it sounds amazing. His music is very subtle yet it covers a large soundscape. Your voice and lyrics are a perfect match.

Have a great Fathers Day,

Jason (Jmb066)

reminds me of what I used to tell my son as a young boy...

If it comes from the heart
though it may be born of fantasy
it will always stay true

thank you -- it renews my hope he will remember (too) as a man.

Spot of reading for you:

Read the review this morning (sorry, full review behind a paywall - I subscribe to the print edition of LRB. I'm an erudite little cnut). Will try to get hold of this when it comes out in paperback.

Your bag, I think
