yeah l.a. yeah
play sing talk
music music music
pluck my string
sing my word
oh my word
travel thru time to the beginning in the end
cosy little show
dynamics
stops starts
makes mistakes
redeems triumphant
cant get to sleep
my only glasses broken now
cant keep track of stuff
blind as a bat or a ball
bawling into a mic
bowling along the highways
up the meridians of free enterprise civilisation
as lived out it the westest west
good bits sure
bad bits thats right
bums on seats
bums on streets
showbiz take a shaky bow in the shadows of ruin
the titanic smoking ice cuba bound
last broken flash of love still in the camera
dream importers underling thats what i am
i'm a man cant you see what i am
a man in this big old mansuit
i assemble sounds in certain patterns
we humans called it music
it has a sequence and a code and a dependence on zeitgeist
i sing my words
getting kinda nervous the way ellipses curve us
its a mystery to me we dont fall
i fall asleep in a van driving towards san fran, cisco
and i dream of incredible things during my dozy daze
i strap on the bass guitar of apollo
and i come down olympus fuming in anger
the songs sweep up the empty aisles and vacant chairs
my time fall away so quickly
i can put no brakes on it
it just streams away n away
love

excellent read, and very enjoyable - thanks for sharing -- pick up some cheap readers at any pharmacy. Yes, not having your glasses can really take a toll, and set you off course. Hang in there.
said it some time ago but i'll say it again
"a high powered mutant never even considered for mass production........
too weird to live, too rare to die."
i hope you got my jazzy flashlight i gave churchmerch steven to give to you, it's got all that jazz inside for your aches and pains as you drive from show to show, i wish Tiare would have given you my message but that's how it happens living life by the drop HOLLYWOOD STYLE!!!
Baby Grande
An acoustic lash,
Of Steve outside the studio,
Fills our heads with light...
what part of your specs are broken.....can it be a sticky-tape job? :-)
love always....
There's a rhythm of travel in your poetic offering today! An emotion read; touching on various emotions, but as ever one that enters the heart and soul of the true follower!
You must be well pee’d about your glasses, I know I’m blind to things that non-optically challenged people can see without mine, but try to focus on the positive, which is: -
A. The feel and touch of nature is far more beautiful than the vision sometimes
B. The mind’s vision is far clearer than the eye’s
And if nothing else, when I go out socialising, I rarely wear my glasses except to drive, cos it saves me a fortune. How? Well my bloody vision is that blurred without the damn things I have the optical illusion of being pissed without having touched a drop of the olde alkiholl. Haha!
Sweet mother of all things holy, Kilbey. For the love of all that is good and right in the world, will you guys please release some form of live material. I have no adjectives for tonight's set. That rendition of Ionian Blues was (again, I don't have adjectives, sorry).
I've bought your paintings, your CDs, your MP3 downloads, shirts. Please, please, may I buy some live material?
ET
Anyone else who didn't receive their mp3s with the receipt as promised, when pre-ordering the physical Steve kilbey box set from Second Motion Records?
I was really looking to the Bedroom Demos # 1 & # 2. They should've been included with the physical box set.
Sometimes I really wish I could insert my brain into each and every record executive! I mean -- goddam it - how hard can it be?
'the songs sweep up the empty aisles and vacant chairs'....i bloody well hope not olde bean!
well done jonnyjazz!
stevo will be most pleased with his rather'iluminating'torch.
After all these years I was never really sure what you sang in that line of Already Yesterday....thanx for that Stavros :))
sk-
i sense a bit of sadness in todays blog. homesick is a possibility, i believe. when u are many miles away from those u love, sadness can set in.
ur extended family, ur incredible bandmates and ur adoring fsna can only fill the void so much.
pick up the phone and talk to those wonderful pixies- that beautiful, adoring wife. close ur eyes and escape into their loving arms...laughter...and words. they miss u as much as u miss them, i can only imagine. they are so proud of u as all ur loving fans are.
our love as fans can not fill that void, hopefully it can make you smile and endure another day away.
b safe and well,

Steve, you can go to a Rite Aid, Target stores and pick up some glases until you get home. They do not cost to much.
Looking forward to Thursday in Portland.
Have a safe drive. It is kind of rainy and cold here in Portland. High of around 55 degrees for Thursday.
Dakini in Bondi is perfectly placed on my orange wall, staring into the deep green and purples of the adjoining rooms. I've been eyeing that print on your website for ages. It speaks to me.
What a show Steve. Spellbinding performance by the whole band and I love it when you banter with us. And so many songs I'd never heard live. Several I hadn't paid much attention to really shone. Ionian Blues... indeed.
Wish I could make some of the other dates but airfare is looking prohibitive. Thanks for giving SF such a great night.
Hey Steve, me and a friend were the ones yelling "Ritz" in LA, ha! Wanted to let you know where we were coming from, a couple of reasons.
A) We've been to many shows and I have to say I have never had a more life changing musical moment than when we saw you and Marty play Ritz acoustic. I guess this had to be around 1991ish....your version made even the crazy ass Steve Harley sound flat. The album version on Magician didn't come close, sorry to say.
B) We went overboard on the tequila.
Thanks for the show! Good luck on the tour.
Correction. Vishnu in Bondi is the print. Amazing "mistake" on my part because I am drawn to him. I have Vishnu on Garuda nearby. The right things often happen even when I feel "I must be mistaken" or "there is no connection". There connection is always there...
The 10th is yet to come.
The ninth was Buddha
The 10th will be:
Kalki ("Eternity", or "timeless",destroyer of time), who is expected to appear at the end of Kali Yuga, the time period in which we currently exist.
"the minds of those who live at the end of the Kali age shall be awakened, and shall be as clear as crystal."
Part of what I'm seeing thru the eyes of "Vishnu in Bondi"
Sorry about your specs, but I'm with cazziem on this one. I never wear my glasses b/c I don't like all those sharp lines. A little blurred is better, though I guess I could just drink more shine for that.
Dang! I should've stayed and given you my glasses. No, they're not your typical reading glasses. They are black with tiny holes in them that are used strictly for reading. No prescription necessary. I haven't used my "real" reading glasses in years.
By the way, I wanted to tell you: You look GREAT! Vegan diet, yoga, love, etc. does you good.
Be careful out there...
"getting kinda nervous the way ellipses curve us"
I think the secrets of the human universe were very nearly revealed when you divined this line.
P.S. Hey Eek, thanks for the link to the boys performance of UTMW on telly (boy does He look deeeeelicious or what!!??) you guys are SO lucky to have The Church over there, I'm dying of jealousy down here!!!
Stevo
LA was fantastic mate. It took me back to 95 when you and Marty played in Ventura and gave one of the best, intimate concerts I have seen. The Roxy 2010 exceeded all my expectations and my only regret is I couldn't convince my teenagers to join me this year.
I too hope you put out a Church Live CD as its hard to explain the exuberance and banter. He's proud of his humility will be remembered until next time.
I am happy to say I have been on the bandwagon for 28 of the 30 years and am blown away by the Church's creativity, energy and passion.
I hope to see you again in New York.
Cheers Jacko
Shine On Steve!
I concur. Please release a live album. I enjoyed the San Diego show. Big fan for the last 20 years!
