no mutiny on this bounty

a lotta people asked me over the years
hey sk
give me some good veg cooking tips
and i say
give em a veggie burger
that'll keep em happy
and i myself have searched this world
with its seven corners and four seas
searching for that perfect veggie burger
i hate em dry
i hate em crumbly
i hate em full of eggplant n capsicum
i hate em mushy
goddamn it
only boca burgers in america have ever come close
then
at a vegan fest this year
a lady called loren turned me on to this
yes
its the holy grail of all veggie burgers
i been veg for many many years
i aint ever ever found a burger like this
eat this and smile fiendss
i dont care even if youre a turkey who still eats meat
you will like this
this is the one shot across the board answer to all burgers
bountyburgers, my friends
www.bountyburgers.com.au
these babies got more protein
than you can shake an index at
no gmo
no animal products
natural ingredients
but oh
oh the taste and the consistency are.....scrumptious
delicioso my friends
look i could have one for dinner EVERY night
they are crunchy on the outside
they are juicy on the inside
and you can even pop em in the fucking toaster!
i get no kickback from this advertisement whatsoever
i am making the unprecedented move of
endorsing this amazing veggie burger
on my otherwise pure blogge
for the selfish reason
of wanting these burgers to go on being available
because i am one of the worlds foremost veggie burger experts
and i say
THIS IS IT
LOOK NO FURTHER!
the bountyburger has arrived
and lo, my veggie fiendss
it is GOOD!
find em
and
devour em!

well...since they are most likely not available in the states, this veg would 'afta take your word for it. they look healthy, though.

as far as veg recipes, www.vegweb.com is a great source. user submitted and user reviewed, ranging from lacto/ovo to raw vegan.

Haha, I like the back-to-front ad for this one:) Thanks though sk, I've tried over and over to make veggie burgers at home but I can never get the "crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside" thing happening, so I'll look around for these.
For another easy veggie meal/snack at home, go to the Asian supermarkets and hunt out the frozen vegetarian Fried Dumplings, you half steam/half pan fry them so they're crunchy on the bottom, soft on top and the filling is delicious chopped up tofu, ginger, spring onion and other herbs. They're not spicy, so they're kid friendly also, just dip them in soy sauce and you can't stop!!!.
It's my 2 year anniversary this month since "becoming a vego", so thanks for this foodie blog sk.....but more Music Month please Mr Music!

Thanks Steve, I will definitely check it out. They sound really good and I'm always searching for good vegan food.

The next time you're in Los Angeles, there is a place in Canoga Park (in the burbs of the San Fernando Valley) called "Follow Your Heart" and they make an award-winning burger! Totally vegan, not crumbly, soggy, etc. It's the bomb, as the saying goes.

Boca burgers are good, too.

By the way, garden burgers are way over-rated.

P.S. I also HIGHLY recommend a great place called "Real Food Daily" located in Santa Monica (they've got a restaurant in Hollywood, too). Gourmet, organic, vegan, outrageously delicious food! Had lasagna the other night. I swear cheese/meat eaters would not know the difference.

Geez, all this talk about food is making me hungry..

Well, for God's sake, Steve, you SHOULD be getting some sort of kick-back from this endorsement!! I'm freakin' STARVING, and I can honestly say I don't think I have ever wanted a veggie burger so badly before in my life!! No joke. I don't know if they are available in the U.S., let alone Chicago (home of Pig, pig and more PIG!!). Yeah, SOME Boca burgers are pretty "do-able", but definitely not all. Some are just dry, dry, dry, OR like you said...mushy...yuck. I've had Home-made one that were really pretty good too, but I don't know the recipe.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll be on the look out for these... Whole Foods?, Trader Joe's??? I really hope they're not just confined to Oz.

I think your next video should be a "cooking show" style. :)

P&L all around,

Ben

Ha-ha!! I just read your quote on the BB website!! Right on.

Well, as it appears right now, it seems to be a pretty small operation, and most likely NOT across the pond, no? Oh well...

I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open though.

Enjoy, all you lucky Aussies! :)

Anybody know if these are available stateside? I must call Chrissie Hynde!

cazziem said...

Well you certainly sell the bountyburger well, both on your blog and their web site, so they must be special! I would love to try one, and I'll happily buy you one too, but first you need to send me a ticket to Oz, cos dear olde England don't seem to do em!!!

Don’t reckon they’re available way over here but if they taste half as good as they look then they’re way better than Boca. I’m not big on Boca vegan patties. I buy a lot of Morningstar Farms. Unfortunately, tho they be meatless they're not always vegan.

HannahMontanna said...

Freddie already said what i was gonna. Must add that I prefer Amy's over Boca. BTW MorningStar makes these Hickory BBQ Riblets that are pretty badass.

Veggie Burgers rule. Veggie Burger eaters of the world must unite and take over. Vegggie Burger eaters love animals and the planet and Gandhi. Talented veggie burger eating musical luminaries include Kilbey, McCartney, Morrissey, Moby, Steve Vai, Chrissie Hynde, Jeffrey Arnold Beck, Kraftwerk (Ralf Hutter), Boston (Tom Scholz), Howard Jones, Judith Durham, Joan Jett, KD Lang, Brian May and many others. Empedocles would love them all.

Speaking of should be getting kick-backs... in America just saw the Lincoln (car) commercial and hope you're getting royalties for "Under The Milky Way" being played as background music.

Anonymous said...

Here in Olney, Maryland, we used to have an Alehouse that served a veggie sunburger with a lemon tahini sauce.
"Do you want that with cheese?"
"NO!"
It was delicious and the only thing I ordered. They took it off the menu and then changed ownership. Bastards.

Salute

Thanks so much for info--Will look for them to come to the States.

Really wanted to mention, in case you were not aware (you surely must be!) Lincoln is using their version of "Under the Milkey Way" in their TV ad? Hope you are getting something for that.

Very best of wishes as always

Your friend in Pennsylvania

Boca's are delicious if made any other way that Micro-deading them.

on a another note.

if i might give a gentle critique as to your vocals on the demos.

less effects,

(compression and a little bit 'o the reverb are A-O.K.!)

you don't need to hide under mushy haze of delay anymore.

have you listened to "Bordello"
or "Anchorage"
lately?

that shit gives me the chills.

obviously not the n.z. version.

love ya
and i hope you and the fambly is well!

'Fraid I'm omnivorous, I'm too weak to stray too far from meat so far. But I must say that I really like Boca burgers, and these Bounty Burgers sound tasty. Hopefully someone in the US will start distributing them or come up with something similar.

I'll be hunting down those bounties. The pic looks a bit like Rediburger. I trust your judgement.
Thanks sk

Hey what's up with the backwards lettering!!?? You look like you just woke up in that pic, LOL!

Why don't vegans and vegetarians just eat vegetables? Why do they have to resemble eating something made of meat? You know why? Because it's natural to eat meat that's why.

I don't mind regular or veggie burgers, but veggie burgers ALWAYS give me REALLY BAD heartburn regardless what kind they are...why is that?

"and you can even pop em in the fucking toaster!"

That's a selling point even I would like!

"for the selfish reason
of wanting these burgers to go on being available"

It certainly does suck when you find a product you love and then the company goes out of business or discontinues that product. Hope the company not only stays in business, but grows. They look and sound wonderful -- I'd certainly give them a try if they were available here.

Hi - dunno if any of you knows about these fab Italian products - I truly recommend them!! The guy's a GENIUS - I met him a few years ago at a big organic food fair. He was carving slices from what looked like a roast "pig" but which turned out to be made entirely from a special blend of native Italian wheat, pulses (not just soy) and herbs... His idea is that carnivores can be won over if you serve them proper stuff! (and he staged it out appropriately). Believe me, he's managed to reproduce the most fantastic Italian salami and meat products with 100% vegan organic GMfree ingredients. AND - I can assure you that Italians are VERY demanding when it comes to food!! Cannot say anything about the burgers as compared with others - I'm not a big burger fan personally (not in my food culture really) - but I would truly recommend you try some of their other stuff. I'm pretty sure they can ship it to you (though maybe wise to get some friends to share the benefits and costs... ahum! we all want to be sustainable no?). Unfortunately the webpage seems to be in Italian only - but email them, I'm sure they will be happy to send more information. Here's the link:
http://shop.ivegan.it/muscolo-grano-c-93.html
More info (in Italian alas! but I volunteer to translate it for you) can be found at: http://www.promiseland.it/view.php?id=3011
Cheers!

Thanks Steve!

My girlfriend and I appreciate this, but do they deliver to USofA? Can we order online from the states? I only see one email address on the site and it looks like it's for distribution purposes only.

If you could, please get a contact, etc so that us overseas people can get in touch with them Bounty Burgers! I myself, still eat regular hamburgers, but I do eat veggie burgers now and then and did in the past too for health reasons, but more so now since my girlfriend is vegetarian...THANKS and Let Us Know!

my wife and i saw the lincoln commercial last night lying in bed watching tv. hope you got paid for it! they should've just used the church's version...obviously better than what we heard. don't understand the point of making a cover version when the original is much more majestic and atmospheric...???
take care
mark

wonder if we can find those veggie burgers here?

davem said...

Whilst I love a veggie burger you just can't top a curry - veggie of course.
There's a splendid veggie indian restaurant by me. It must take some of the blame for my girth.

I note from other blighty fiends that we can't get your bloomin' burgers anyway. Typical!!

Unsure if I can get them here in Bonnie Pictland, but I'll look. Until then it's Tesco's own brand. I remember seeing an advert for Linda McCartney's meat delights. Horrible thought really. No wonder he went down on one knee. Another horrible thought.

crunchy outside, moist inside... conjures up memories of Maoz falafel in Amsterdam. Now I see they're slowly taking over America...

Far as veggie burgers go, Trader Joe's Vegetable Masala Burger is the best I've had.

Sounds good. I hope to try it sometime. I'm partial to the lentil burger. :) I like 'em spicy from the Cass Cafe in downtown Detroit. Then there's Om Cafe's seaweed burger; that's pretty delicious.

I'd be interested to know what the ingredient they have listed as Flavour is :). Companies are allowed to list MSG as flavour or natural flavour if they want to.

These are fantastic burgers. I've had them before myself and if anyone wants to try these, come along to the Green Earth Festival at the Botanic Gardens in Brisbane this Sat 13th March 2010. Starts at 10am. There's heaps of other great vegan food too! Heaven!!
