very quick one

rehearsal is a drag
bored
ringing ears
goes slow
eat unhealthy rubbish
laze around feeling 'orrible
rehearsing in king louis 14ths studio
somewhere in the middle of nowhere
no phone
no net
no nothin'
lotsa noise
my eye blurry still
yes the creme n machine did work
but my tragic old face back to norbal now
(sigh)
off to rehearse again
feel unsafe on the road
the construction is grinding away as we speak
(same as it ever was)
peace n quiet elude me
jet lagged n with a cold
i feel miserable
i hate holiday inns
i hate touring
i hate waiting
i hate the noise
i hate my fucking shelf
(my id keeps falling off it)
eager to r0cknrollo
but all the rest bores my well toned ass off
miss my pool
miss my fam
miss my indy-pendants
what a moaner, lisa...!
anyway
seems a long way from rnr heaven
driving around
waiting around
the weather is rather chilli for summer
my feat are cold
my cold is in my knows
i'm lonely and tired n hungry
blah blah blag
feel sorry for me
feel very sorry for me
or whatever
you wanna piece of olde sk?
coming soon to a venue neer you
with love!

Being a keen swimmer myself I know what it's like to miss the pool, and the endorphin rush from a good few lengths.

Whay not make it a mission to try and find a new pool in each town/city you visit? Breaks up the day, and might help to get your mood up?. Better than just getting bored, pished or stoned, eh?

I hate that touring puts you through such an unpleasant experience, and that all seems like a valid reaction to the process. At the same time, I'm thrilled and thankful that you do it. Do I need you crawl through the much for my entertainment? Not if I really care about you as a person. But you're doing it, and I'll play my role as the eager audient. My job's easier. Get well, and do enjoy what you can during your travels. See you in Chicago.

Sounds dismal...thanks for putting up with all the crap just for us.
Come and fly a kite with me on the 13th, what say you?

A truly sincere welcome back to the promised land with your tired, magnificent self. slag off the lag and rock n roll, baby!

can't wait for my transdimensional tickets (oh wait, they're on will call, nevermind) Did you know they now charge extra for picking up the transdimensional added service?

I can imagine all the waiting around is dull. We are always hugely grateful when you visit though. It's the highlight of a year (or two or effing three).
Love you lots.

Buck up little camper. you are here on a mission. To spread good vibes and sweet sounds throughout our land. Seattle awaits the arrival of the real deal!

I hope things get better on the long rock journey ahead. Things could be worse. Thank God you are not in Journey on a long rock journey. Think how awful you would feel in a mesh t shirt and leather pants while singing "Wheel In The Sky".

Cheer up Steve, your fans will make you feel better. I travel for work only one week at a time and I miss my family, for you it is ten fold so I feel for you and them. Too bad you could not bring them along to go sight seeing though I am sure that would get expensive. How is the setlist coming along, very excited two more weeks and you will be here in sunny Michigan.

Have fun!

The Church has a respectable US fanbase and I just hope that enough of the fans even know you guys are in the States. Newspapers and magazines are struggling and laying off writers from Arts and Music sections.

Love the new stuff, especially the Martin Kennedy collab.
Saw you in Missoula, MT, 1989. High spot in college years.

So much of travel is like that, don't ya think? Loneliness, hardship, misery... But the things it can teach you make it all worthwhile.

Once the rock gods take hold of you, it'll all be alright (on the nite)...

"feel sorry for me
feel very sorry for me"

LOL - not a chance.

Glad you made it there safely.
Tis one thing you have in common with every other band the necessary rehearsal drag, but it will be worth it, all those fans are gonna be blown away. Hope you have plenty of merch over there to keep up with the demand.

Good luck for the first gig, may it be the start of your best ever tour.

Hope the eye is slowly getting better, these things do take time,
wear your sunnies and eye patch if it helps at all, hope your cold goes quickly. 12 degrees here today in Sydney town, the winter chill has arrived, but at least the sun is shining.

Peace & love
Therese

Hi Steve,

We're really looking forward to the show in San Francisco as we hope you are as well.

You sound pretty miserable and I hope that feeling vanishes once you get out and unleash those amazing new songs.

I think you don't realize though that the fans have given you the latitude to play pretty much whatever you guys want. No need for 'that song' as just about everyone at the shows is a long-time fan.

Honestly, the fans would not care if you played b-sides, covers, rarities or just jammed for a while. What I'm trying to tell you is that you've got the best bunch of fans any musician could ask for because we've given you the license, long ago, to do whatever you want. We don't demand the hits and buy the albums trusting whatever direction you guys take is going to be interesting.

You've got a sort of patronage with us so play whatever makes you happy. Just be happy that you can play what you enjoy and we'll end up feeling the same instead of smiling through clenched teeth knowing you don't want to be there or play 'that song.'

We have no expectations other than you will present your art in the way you think it is best served so knock yourself out!

So please, don't be down on touring. Sounds like 99% boredom with 1% excitement during the actual show but I'm sure any of us would gladly trade our crummy, ordinary lives for that of a modern day troubadour.

See you in S.F. Take care,

Jeff and Lilian

Mr. Kilbey,

I don't know how you ever did it in the 1st place, except you are the definition of what it is to "fight through the pain"! You will find strength! We had another Quake today! The 4th in 7 Days! Not California by any stretch! LOVE!
