totally on track

the reviews for u#23 pour in
behold : only 4 and 5 star reviews
ah the spirit of the age
a revolt into style
the church get the mix right (finally)
in our fifties (cept tim)
we are finally grande olde masters of rock
like da vinci if he played the fucking electric guitar
like van go go woulda played a drumkit
like andre breton woulda pumped a bass guitar
we have absorbed a thousand influences
each member bringing in his expertise n particular attributes
tim : technical, calm, powerful, deep, reasonable, unpredictable
pete : musical, knowledgeable, perfectionistic, traditional, fiery, exact
marty : intuition, passion, eclectic, wild, inspiring
i will refrain from assessing myself today
except to say
with out me these other wonderful ingredients will fail to cook
i am the alpha and the omega
i usually start things off
let them do their thing
and at the end
i move in and sing
more than ANY thing else in this world
i am a prime mover in the art of songwriting
i know how to get the ball rolling
i understand the processes of creation of art
and for excellence in this
i hail breton
i hail dali
i hail dylan thomas
i hail paul mc cartney

not sure it's the best church record.....
but as an album, u#23 is without doubt the most consistently good collection in your cannon.

Wonderful blog! I hail the two Church tickets I got in the mail today! I'll be seeing all four of you geniuses at the Roxy in L.A.

Oddly enough the first place I was supposed to see you guys in 1988 was the Roxy but it never happened. Some things do come to pass...just a bit (21 years!) later than imagined.
Can't wait!
love,

I still make sure I kiss my 11 and 13 year olds at bed time and when they're heading off to school

I hope they see it as more than a ritual (I think they do)

nice one today steve. so tired of reading great reviews of untitled #23! can't wait to get it myself! as for your comment to the anon yesterday...well played. the more you react...the more they feed off it.

by the way...wifey and i were in bed bath and beyond today looking for bedding for the soon to be baby room. the store had some alt/80's station playing. all of a sudden, right after thompson twins actually...metropolis came on to my delight...at the same time we found exactly what we were looking for! coincidence...i think not...

take care steve
mark

ps-keep hoping an atlanta date's gonna show up???

Even though their styles are different, Thom Yorke and Steve Kilbey are in the same very high musical echelon. It's a bilateral compliment. They both use their vocals as instruments in many songs. Untitled# 23 is an AUSSIE Radiohead CD but Kilbey predated Yorke.
