i wonder...who are those people on the pictures...on the shelf...is that PK on the painting on the left...who is the almost-bald pastel guy copying your GAF beard style....is that a DalĂ book...? questions...questions...
Steve! Thanks for your time-being! As a musician it like your music is a true inspiration! BTW check out a super-great show called the Venture Bros.! It's a cartoon on Adult Swim and deals with matters temperal and the occult! Lots of dark gooey subject matter!!!!
It certainly appears to be Steve Kilbey the visionary painter rather than Steve Kilbey the nonpareil rock vocalist and lyricist. A very cerebral, reflective and creative vegan.
Hey, Princey. I caught that rude comment someone left a blog or two back. Just wanted to say I congratulate you on just being who you are. Keep gushin'! Love, beauty all too soon fade from this world, better acknowledge it while it and we are here. I kinda believe doing so helps keep it around and alive a wee bit longer.
On closer inspection, guess that's not Ganesh in that book. If one clicks and zooms in... well, I can't even make out which deity that is. Who... what? Care to illuminate? Now I'm curious.
hello steve, just wanted to let you know (as evidenced by my handle name I use everywhere)that Heyday changed alot of things for me way back in 86. It's kind of like you helped shine a musical light that had seemed dim to extinguished, what with all the pap that I was exposed to in those "heady" 80's MTV big hair days. Funny, I learned of the band not thru hearing anything by you but by the cover with four guys dressed similarly to what I was wearing. On a whim (and a prayer) I picked up Heyday in Lubbock, Texas and have been with you ever since. Thanks for all the pleasure you have brought to my life. The small donation isn't comparable to the debt I feel I owe you, but it's about all I've got (divorce, bankruptcy, shitty 07). Just discovered this so thanks for this to. Just keep on keeping on and know it's appreciated.
Mr. Kilbey, hello... I’ve been reading your blog for a while now; I can’t donate, cuz I’m somewhat broke,(financially, not spiritually.) Once in Royal Oak Michigan, when the Church graced us with the good stuff (yer music) you and PK, were crossing the street before the show, I said to you, ‘Mr. Kilbey, hello...I like your songs very much.’ You nodded to me, and the two of you crossed the street;(Later that night the music was amazing.) You’re so much better then so many bands that have made millions, of course you deserve the money; but in a sense its poetically fitting; the asshole’s with nothing to say make the money, you make poetic sense and create beauty. It seems the musical idiots are rewarded (dollar wise) as they appeal to the masses; and you too will be rewarded, as you appeal to the gods. Humbly John
ps... it’s a shame that your not more famous then, bon jovi, or any of those fu*#ing idiot bands..!
pss...if you see my little blog, check out some of my oil paintings.
looks like one picture says 'a' thousand words huh esskay, look at all your comments, you got every body talking bout your room, what bout my room???!!! Sit Down Jonny
You're looking splendid Sir. But how the eff do you find anything on those shelves? Have you seen Ricky yet? What news on Painkiller? Much love to you and all your fiends. x
Old my ass Kilbean! You bitch about being old and you are in the prime of your life. Stop the bitchin young man and go do some livin before yur 70 and have a reason to say yur old. My god After Everything Now This is a master peace Kilbean. Why do people never talk about the Awful Ache?? That song kills...
Matt D reports about a band that is an ELO/Church hybrid. Sounds great. Messrs. Lynne and Kilbey are on a par in reference to having enormous talent. Lynne opts to mix pop and progressive while Sk is pschedelic and mystical. Both are dreamy and edifying to the ears.
The Kilbey produced "Bohemia" by Mae Moore is one of the finest CD's in my abode. Another great vocalist whose totally overlooked.
