hope u get better, that sucks for you, sk
I'm starting to twitch already...can't take this. Withdrawal's a real thorn, isn't it? Ya better listen to the doc though. A good doc is hard to find.
Take care of yourself. Hear from ya soon???? I was just taking a break from my yard work anyway...back to it I guess.
Hang in there.
Ben
oh, sorry to hear this.....but enjoy your time off. hey, we all need a break now and then.
if you aren't up to pix, don't sweat it. but thanks for the thought anyway.
can't wait to see what this "project" is.... :)
lotza love....
oh oh ... getting old eh?

you may or may not agree but in order of priority your wrists are needed for - bass guitar (performing), acoustic (composing), painting (relaxing), everything else, then blogging last - you don't have to do that and you certainly don't need to hammer away at a keyboard - talk to rusty re voice recognition software, vodcasting, etc
Sorry to hear that Steve. RSI is weird. I've been touch typing most of my life, since my fave high school teacher started playing loud rock music in his class, hence the huge attendance. Never had RSI yet many friends have, one severely from handwriting -she was off work for months. Maybe its from using one hand more? Is it common amongst guitarists? Hope its not going to affect yr painting too much. But, this brings me back now to the idea of audio vs writing! Maybe a good time for a podcast too??
OR just enjoy a break!
BTW yesterday i saw this incredible guy on Stateline - Barry "Magoo" McGuigan, 78 yr old surfer - Over 60's aussie long board champion (have u heard of him?). Absolute inspiration... and he still has all his hair! "Sensible living, keeping supple and a daily surf" was his secret....similar to someone we know... give or take a bit of 'sensible' :)
No dramas, SK. Have a break from it. We'll still be here when you're ready to write again.
project neverland??? hope you enjoy those shrooms me Lord sent you, haha...

yeah sk, i reckon if you're typing with one hand then you're not 'sharing the load' with the other hand.
If I type now just with one hand/finger I can feel my whole arm tense up- and it relaxes when I go to two hands...
just a thought ;)
Oh no, that's not good news. Do what it takes to get better sk, will miss you heaps though.
Take care.
Love always,
Amanda
Welcome home SK. You sure had your ups and downs on tour. You can't be all things to all people. Most important thing is to be happy. Follow your heart and let the sea soothe your soul.
Hope to see you play again, when you feel ready.
Take care

I am twitching like a drunk in a pharmacy...
You want me to fill in for ya for a few day's??
Sorry about the rsi, don't worry about the blog, we've been spoiled so much with the o'seas news & piccies, have a break and don't stress out about it, we'll be waiting for you when you return.
Fri nite flicking through radio stations and caught the end of UTMW, then an announcement sayng "u can't beat the classics". Hear hear. Hope you're getting royalties from these stations.
Definitely read Chrissy A's biog.
Tis a very interesting read and she's such a nice lady when she signed my book at the book launch.
As she says the Divinlys never officially broke up so I hope I get to see them play one day, regret I never saw them in their heyday.
Re your "secret musical project", will be most disappointed if you don't include Sydney in the previews.
Take care of those precious bass fingers.
Healing thoughts your way,
Therese
No problem for the blog break Steven...
Relax and enjoy your life for a bit - heaven knows you've shared enough of your time with us to last for a few days.
Get better Steve and don't eat anything that was killed. 2003-2004 was a vintage period for Steve and The CHurch. Forget Yourself and Beside Yourself are equally incredible CDs. U2, Radiohead and REM can't touch The Church in the realms of talent, creativity and virtuosity.
Bugger..you take it easy buddy....

take your time Orpheus. Feel better.

good idea to take some downtime, esskay.
i won't venture to comment on rehab or medical issues, but I am qualified to comment on things pre-hab and post-rehab. in my experience repetitive strain is most often a matter of moving the joints of the afflicted area through their full range of motion every day, and also including compensatory movement to release tension embedded into the system from moving in the same ranges over and over. unless released that tension builds, and to make a long story bearable you end up with "leathery straps" of tension that need to be broken up over time (the techincal term is myofascial density). You can do it through various treatments like massage, but also through yoga or yoga like practices. It's a matter of hitting on the right type or combination of movements.
if there's anything i can do, drop me a line. its difficult to coach over video, but i've done it before.
take care! looking fwd to this special project you've got up yer sleeve...

"all the world is birthday cake
so take a piece but not too much"
rsi, in sanskrit terms = rishi
a little googling lead me to this link , from which this piece leapt from the screen!...
THE ESSENCE OF THE VEDAS
Live in the spirit of the teachings of the Vedas. Learn to discriminate between the permanent and the impermanent. Behold the Self in all beings, in all objects. Names and forms are illusory. Therefore sublate them. Feel that there is nothing but the Self. Share what you have,-physical, mental, moral or spiritual,-with all. Serve the Self in all. Feel when you serve others, that you are serving your own Self. Love thy neighbour as thyself. Melt all illusory differences. Remove all barriers that separate man from man. Mix with all. Embrace all
~
This is bad news.
But I couldn't live without your music!!!
Love you more,
Davem
xx
dude try using more than one finger at a time and thus you will reduce the amount of time you have to spend typing by 90% hey!! anyway, get well, and put that right hand to good use my friend...
sucks, makes ya feel any better couple weeks back i was losing an arguement with my girlfriend an decided clearing a cup off the table would clear me from any more explaining and nearly broke my finger. that forced music too be delayed for about a week, and left no excape to the womens scorn. painting you have i suppose, love an peace, kilby

Awww! Feel better killa..we will soldier on.
Hope you get better soon, a picture paints a 1000 words so if you can do pics then that would be awesome, but no worries dude i got the new cd to keep me going.

thanks for the link, and
mix with all
embrace all

NO PLEEEEEASE DON"T Honestly. G to the beach or something
Steve....love the (oh!) footnote to the withdrawal comment...even in obvious pain you still have a mischievous sense of humour.
as The King would have said...it's mine and I'll withdraw as hard as I want to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
typing is prick of a thing to do regularly...so take it easy knowing full well that we all have your voice and muse playing around us even if we can't read your comments.
ps...if you go to the doctor and ask for a second opinion and he tells you to "give up the grog"...tell him that's an old joke and you don't appreciate him being a smartass.

All about repetitive strain injurys.
Relax Steve. We all need some time away from time every now and then.

Hmm.....photo of SK's effects boxes? Ya got a great bass sound outta that plank. You look a bit, um, altered in second photo, reminds me of famous shot of the Lizard King experiencing similar state of consciousness.
Take a break, TB.....we'll be here when you get back. (really enjoying the digital camera compositions)
good luck with the condition. beats restless leg syndrom, i guess.... :-), which just cracks me up!
