youre in freeeee fall

plummeting
this ruined angel
falling down from heaven
27 to 60
crashing sprawling
the earth rushing up to meet me
sickening descent from nightmare
smashing into the floor
down down down
catch me
im fading fast
muse what am i to do?
no use moaning here nevets
these are the people you still have
but muse wherefore hast my readership sunk
like a wreck in the cold green sea
like i wazza ripple
in their memory?
oh nevets such is the fickleness of folk
cry not for them gone
but celebrate in the ever vibrating present
you been surfing now for nearly 52 years
today...
today im sittin in the sauna
and im talkin' to these 2 russian ladies
who run a beauty parlour
and im askin' em whether i should have
anywhere on my body waxed
(im being facetious fer chrissake!)
and one points to my beard tentatively
you think i should have my beard waxed? asks i
the other one shakes her head
no she says
that beards been good to you.....

i thought that was kinda funny
oh well guess you had to be there
i mention my rock group to the doodles
evie says whats a rock group
aurora says oh eve...its dads collection of stones
you see
everyone speaking at least part of the truth
some of the time
a horrible machine has taken up residence in this nay-borehood
going dut-dut-dut-dut-dut-dut
and
then its echo as well off the side of the hill
a millisecond friggin' delay
as the horrible machine moves about
the sound doeppler effects with itself
and thats sounds like t.dream
(a very little, im just tryin' to see the brite side)
im ready to strangle it
its the anti-yoga
its sonic anathema!
(a great name for my next record maybe)
what sayest thou muse?
its ok nevets, i guess
ok muse, is it just ok?
must everything you say be a pearl nevets?
why yes muse yes
i wanna be a poet 24 hours a day
i need to be squeezing poignancy outta words
i gotta make these words bleed for my readers
i gotta use special words and bend em to my agender
im fuckin finished lets face it
number 60
i can do anything now
ha ha
the constraints are off
from now on nevets yeblik can run amuck
regardless of all those damn aspirations to bloggmeggadom
bloggmeggadom, as mentioned in the ye olde testament
where the successful psalmists n scribes go
oh nevets you know its cos the u.s. tours over...
a loada flakes left this blogg so eat their dust
nevets some of em have abandoned ya its true..
no muse no...i hate to be cast aside..just like that
how could they do it to me
oh bitter tears
oh wailing n gnashing of teeeth
didnt they understand they were sposed to be my audience?
was i charging em too much?
was i too political/apolitical?
was i too good/evil?
for christ sakes nevets...
you just didnae have the right stuff man..now let it go
youre boring the ones you DO have left
but seeeing i am thy muse...heres a little idea:
pretend that youre still on tour
some where in wyoming ...
sitting in my room
the pools full of wee wee n klawrine
my ipods playin jeff buckley
tonite we play wyoming house of blooze
dickos down in the foyer i guess waitin'
last nites gig in boise was a corker
met some great folks
thanks barney n edna fer the vegan jazz muffins
boise had a nice vegan pub called the organic martini
sue cee recommended it
we met some people in there
hi sid n nancy kincaid
we played jazzy reptile
until it slithered away amongst the audients
i have reduced my bass to a one stringer
and i just go boom boom boom
and sing all this stuff in sumerian
it translates as
take it out on me enki
boise is the home of boiseberries
and i had a vegan boiseberry thickshake
with jagermeister clusters
whippings of soy cream
lashings of peeled provocative fruit
ready to be devoured
im driving tomorrow
the sunstarr is a great van
it has cd n vapouriser trails
its aircond n wireless n starbux homed
it drives like a diamond crushed dream
on yer 4 buck a gallon gasoline
tonite im wearing black for a change
im gonna try singin' in a deep voice
im gonna try to say witty yet somehow poignant things
between the songs
im gonna do all my old hits
inkling
my abstract model
electrical disturbance
jet fin rock
all the way back to the songs i wrote in the womb
yeah you know that one about the ocean n the silvery fish
and the mermaids who were a'callin to ya
nevets sing them the one i whispered tp you
when you incorporeal in the astral
oh muse
i been trying to remember that one forever, you know
but oh oh my my
what a sad sad song that was...
im still crying all these years later, muse
whats going on with that?
hush now nevets im here
im here
muse?
yes dear nevets?
do you think i'll ever re-enter the top 40?
(sound of muse yawning)

Please accept my very sincere birthday wishes to ya. You're getting older...do you think you are getting wiser?

Maybe time for a muse trade-in, she does seem to be giving you the brush off a bit lately....

Yes Nevets now you're boring us, haranguing your muse, reaching back for stale metaphors.
Nevermind the charts; lately you've been at your most brilliant...the spacerock chronicles, t rex, et al, going deep, inching toward your masterpiece.
Sowhat if you leave a few lightweights behind in near earth orbit, the truly committed are along for the ride.

HA! I knew 60 was going to wig you out! Steve you have to know you're too good to be way high in the rankings. Just look at the tripe that's at the top. The people looking at that dreck aren't going to care for what you write.

But you are tops with the only person who matters -- ME! Yep, Ms eekie -- Siren, charter member of the SKSC, La Sordida, and most importantly, KIABGOA -- has declared The Time Being is the top blog in the entire world bar none. There you go. It's all settled now.

Or, tour New Zeeland.

Perhaps the numbers will go up once american college etudients settle in to their new digs and start goofing off again. yon mineral congregate is college fodder after all

I agree with you,Cameras 4 eyes. The sk experience should tour places like Perth. Unfortunately they need more than 80 people at a gig to justify coming across the desert. I am searching under the couch etc. to raise the ca$h to get to Adelaide.
If I can't go I will need this blogg to be at all the magnetic field gigs in oz.

*birthday smooch*

there are those few aural rarities that transport you
body and soul to the other place and the places in between.
For me, that's always been The Church and The Church is you,
dear Orpheus. Your words, your soul, your music, your voice,
has always made me feel connected to the larger spirit,
no matter what distractions are on the outside.
It is that sublime serenity and teleportation of
the mind that soothes and expands which calls
out to me.

I may have come to this blog party late,
but I intend to stay until you kick me out the door.
Cheers! and another of those Hungarian "jaegers" please.

I believe you started the buzz and climbing when you allowed us to ask you questions for one day. I couldn't wait to see the answers each of the days. I know the tour sustained it and it continued to grow, but I do believe the introspection was the catalyst.

Maybe the next time you could put a limit to say that you'll answer the first 50 questions that are posted. That way your hands won't fall off.

I read the following at: http://www.ulujain.org/music/kilbeyinterview.shtml

A very old interview. Those where the days hey SK!

"It's like a bunch of housewives and there's only 10 packets of Omo going cheap and they all want to get a bit" says Steve Kilbey; lead- singer, bass player, songwriter and chief egomaniac with The Church. Kilbey is describing what it's like being mobbed by hordes of young girls after an under 18 concert in Melbourne last year. "The girls spur themselves on. I don't think that would have happened if I was just walking down the street, but
they were so excited, you could have thrown a gorilla in there and the reaction would have been the same.

"It's like sharks feeding,-they spur each other on. The rest might not be hungry but they smell blood and go in for the kill."

"The few times that's happened they really go for you. They grab your hair and your ears, stick their fingers in your nose. One girl had her arms around my neck and was sobbing and saying, 'I love you, I love you, I love you.'"

"I think it's just something they've seen in films."

Steve, didn't you get my telepathic email?

Don't you know me and your ilk - of several multitudes - set up that commune in Snake Valley? Yea.. the Kilbey Commune. We're kickin ass, finding Orpheus down the disused mine shafts. The heath is flowerin magnifico..., and the currawongs are ringin out to the tune of Paradox, But...

We haven't got the power thing sorted out yet, so I'm using the wireless lappy thing. The other churchy dudes are going crazy not been able to get thier fix of Time Being. Purest Snake Valey nature just won't do, they want their Time Being. It's like the new SOMA. Other drugs just seemingly old fashioned. These are hardcore people. These tutes wanna log on every few hours for keeping touch with base (bass?man), for their fix man. I dont know how long we can hang together here, but that's definitely part of why the blog rank thingy is down, man.

Up late now still trying to work out the panel wiring. These dudes won't leave me alone cause I got the last working lappy. Having to post here sureptitiously. Gettin like Survivor. I'm afraid to sleep cause some dude gonna creep out of the canvas not for usual shake of the snake or cuz a koale screamin in the night scared 'em shitless or cause they gotta keep moving cuz it's so fuckin cold and even the jazz won't let ya forget your sleepin bag is crap and all the wood is wet, but they gonna do unspeakable acts to get that fix, man.

You know I promised em the Kilbey Commune dream and they came. They came here to be herbal: with tents, cds, lappys, etc. Methinks we shoulda waited till the weather was better. It'sa fact tis colder than Balarat and the old mine shafts around here are a bit of a worry. And the dunnies... dont go there! Actually, come to think of it... I'd forgotten abot 'em.

Love from Snake Valley, home of the Kilbey Commune.

I'm on that horrible but effective promotion and social vehicle MySpace, myself, as is a profile of you, though I know not who administers it- and there your bloggeys have begun to be reposted, and it is there that I have read a few of them recently rather than here- much as it is quite possible that others of your fandom have been doing...

Your numbers may not have dropped off much after all S-K, at least not in total...

Yeah I also suspect the reposts on Myspace are bleeding off some readers. Of course it could just be part of your master plan for blog domination -- repost over there for a few weeks and get people well hooked then yank the blog out from under them there and make them all come here. Brilliant!

Happy Birthday Steve! You're almost 4 hours into your new year. May it be a good one!
