I just arrived home to Atlanta from San Francisco. Back in my chair, back to my lady. Strange and huge cloud formation off to the right through the airplane window; must have been 60,000 feet high, beams of light, surreal like my thoughts from the window, still buzzing from the fantastic show there. You seemed fatigued, but drew from some hidden energy source (the SF Jazz?)to rock and to roll and make that hall reverberate. How lucky I was to make it out, and see the band in my hometown too. Sad that it's over, but happy to hear of kitchen tables, balconies, pacific swims and doodles.
Thanks again for coming to our shores.

Welcome home Crazyman, great to have you back around these parts. It's been equal parts weird and wonderful touring the world vicariously with you via yon blogge... Oz, Europe, the States... i almost feel like a roadie. Must say i feel for some of the American fiends on here, 16 years is far too long a wait to see a Church show. Even seeing you cats play once or twice a year doesn't feel like enough!
So the Church playing electric shows in Oz in Sept, is this true? Im curious as to where folk get this info... if it's not on your blog or the official band site then i wouldn't have a clue, i feel totally out of the loop.
Anyways i'm sure you're happy not to think about touring for another few weeks (months?) yet. Enjoy the Pacific and keep wiggling those toes...

I thank the gods I have finally seen the Church play. I love it, love it, love it! You may have been at it 20 some years but it's all new to me. Rest now for a while in the beautiful afterglow of what you have given and created and the joy you've spread.

Glad to read you're home safe and sound. Seeing you four running around San Francisco operating on basically no sleep and then putting on a thrilling show that night let me see how hard you all work. I was fortunate to see two shows (Anaheim and SF) and thought each was brilliant. Thanks for letting us know what you thought of those nights.
It was an honor to have the best band in the world back on our shores, come back as soon as you can.

It was beyond great. The informality and the jokes. SO many great jokes. I laughed my ass off when you did the little riff on "Hollywood Nights" and sang:

Elizabethan "Grind" rules. And now I imagine you running around loudly proclaiming "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!" No provocation. Just doing it.
Yeah. SF was QUITE alright. Fear not. Except for the dude in front of me who kept ordering martinis in a *most* distracting fashion. But then, it would've been no less distracting if he had gotten up and bought them himself all fifty-six times either, so there you go.
Marty doesn't look like he enjoys playing the drums much. I could be wrong. And..."what I like about you??" That was enjoyably random and gave me a fit of giggles.
Yoga on the balcony sounds lovely. When you do any variation of Warrior pose, do you picture flames shooting from your fingertips, smiting your foes? I do. (cough)

steve, happy the journey home was a safe one...even with the kids it probably seems quiet at home compared to the daily craziness of touring. so glad to have been a part of the atlanta night! i think our country's a better place with you guys in it. thanks. my wife and i, as well as a couple of friends, are thinking about coming to australia in october to catch an electric show...and to see some of your beautiful country. enjoy your family time. that was nice of nk to have some jazz waiting! take care.

Glad to hear your home.
Just following your travels via your blog evokes the surreal for me.
I still recall my utter surpise when, as I travelled over a continent, at each location...point along the way... I was on a different planet. Oh, yes, Earth. But it was Germany's take on Earth, France's take on Earth so forth.
Each culture, each town even, seemed to have its particular way of organizing "The World."
And perhaps it's just because I was open enough or just trippin' in my own way, but I'd be swallowed up by it like passing through some warp in the fabric.
I have to admit that while it was liberating, and quite an education, it was a little scarry too. The expediency of travel (even when not by thought) is a little, well, weird.
Enjoy the water. Make it a great one.

Nostalgia trip.
I just played my vinyl version of No Explanation. Took me back through the years so quick.....It's was 1 minute past midnight on Christmas Day morning, 1984. I'm 19 & ripping off the wrapping paper to open the copy of Remote Luxury that I've treated myself to. After getting over the shock of what looks like SK with short, blonde hair and whipping through Consant & Violet Town there it is "You pull the sheets around your throat talking the the harpy again.....".
Venom from such a velvet voice. effing magic. Bloody shame that I'm no longer 19 though. Bugger.

Thanks for the great concert in NYC. I gave the tix to my wife for her birthday (we're a pair of 52-year-old kids) and we both loved it. Absolutely loved it.
And special thanks for the helpful directions... we found our way home just fine after headin' back to the junction about five miles. ;0)
