jumble sail

hello my devotees
i know ya missed me yessaday
cmon
do ya think the reason i boycotted tuesday
was because my comments have dwindled
DOWN TO 18 ?
is it because im spoilin ya with these 24 carrot
pearls of wisdom
i am casting
before the internet swine
who do nae have the decency to
worship me with florid comments
like
oh steve...youre just the best
at everything....

it should at least be as goode as that
and please people
"oh you olde genius...how do you do it?"
just dont really cut it any more
i told ya
run to the dictionary
praise me eloquently
or not at all
actually
i am not seeking yer praise
i am jus' doin' this to turn ya on
an hour outta my day baby
for you
because i need to tell you all this
it has to be here
time distance
have necessitated this
now
the germans are giving uninvited like ze clouds
a critical thumbs up
(i knew i was safe when fang-dooren
that learned deutsch sage
said he liked the drums on block)
yep
you got it right stefano bouy
block is a great sounding song
i cant believe wallies are out there fuckin complainin'
well if you liked somethin else better
listen to that
cmon
im waiting on bondi beach tonite
midnite
between the sharks and bluebottles
to personally fucking pummel anyone
who dares critize goode yon ye olde blocke
i like it
thats all i really care about
and it rocks baybee
cmon chrissie the groupie
(which one is you?)
(sorry is it with a k?)
(sorry do you really know i mc c?)
(if so, wow)
i know block is appealing to ya
i know its rockin yer whirled fer six.
tell em
aw i know
i m preaching to the converted
i know yall love it
any way
i been doing interviiews
these last 2 nites
with germany
the guys i talk to said they really like the new record
there you go
and the germans no dummies baby
these guys actually listen to the record !!
(dont take that for granted)
they ask provocative questions
most of em know more english words
than yer average pom yank or aussie
(sad but true)
these not fickle english dudes
worried about yer haircut or whatever
pushing some gormless hopeless youth club band
for ten minutes at number one
(hello mansun fans......hello?)
god bless em
they burned bright
they did well
what a career
what a day
or kingmaker?
however
i do like a goode shoegazer thing
like ye olde ride and mbv
the last great sonic revolution in rock?
i reckon vapour trail by ride
to be one of the best songs ever
and the guy who wrote it is playing bass
in oasissy
go figga that fiendss
theres no just desserts
the pleasure is the pleasure
the race is the prize
i make my music
the way i write this blog
random
with love
quick
but
slow
i try for ya
i never ever talk down to ya
i expect that you expect the best
i dont wanna pour a load of tired olde tripe
on ya
yer too busy
and
too intelligent for that
so although i do fail
i am
after all
only half human
but you know i INTEND
to do something goode
i dunno
where was i?
who turned out the lights?
yes
now i remember
i was gonna tell ya
that ive run
outta time
see yer soon

Where can we read the interviews, Etienne?

I just finished reading the journal I kept during that time we hit Montreal. Lovely that you lads enjoyed the snake, dollar and clockwork-toy tossing - wonder if that would fly these daze?

I listened to BLOCK and thought excelente they've done it again.

Playing it to an uninitiated friend he commented 'where's the chorus?' WHere's the ferking chorass! I am currently deprogramming this unfortunate soul before releasing him back into the wild.

Yes, Block does rock my whirled for six. Wish it was seven or eight!

SK, BLOCK brilliant, like a slow furnace, beautiful structure...the short story writer in you coming to the fore again...more importantly, am finding it almost impossible to buy tickets for your Brisbane gig at the Troubador...Church site lists ticket outlets that say they don't know of any Church gig...Troubador just goes to answering machine...very frustrating for Church Loyalists in the Deep North...who can help? Anybody?

I've been listening to Back w/ Two Beasts for an eternity, can't wait to finally hear Uninvited Like the Clouds!! Though I have to say, I can play your music and never get tired of it.

Ordered the Block EP and I am patiently waiting for it to arrive - it takes so long for us to get them in the U.S!! but I'm sure it will be worth the waiting!!

I have to admit when you miss a day or two of blogs sk, I think, I hope nothing happened to SK!! So your bloggies are always thinking about you.

So what was the story with Shock -
cmon give us the gory record business details.
& good to hear u doin ULTC gigs but $ 45.00 !!
We expect fellatio for that
Then again I guess U2 is $ 200.00

Glad to see the kind words about Ride; I was introduced to them by the same guy who insisted I learn the rhythm guitar riff to "Reptile" back in high school. (How's that for subtle sycophancy?) (Hmm... sycophancy... there's a fun word...)

reading everyone's comments
about the thrilling ultc
launching party giggs is
making me sickee
and oh so jealous.
it's cruel and unusual
to read the braggs about
getting tickets
when a whole bunch
of us are so so so
far away that
we can only dream
of being there
even though we
love love love
you sk just as much
as your aussie fans.
(are you feeling
truly adored yet sk?)
if not
let me say
this
steve baybee
you know your
music is
divine
sublime and
totally unparalleled.

18 disiples is 6 more than the other dude. is it true that all rock stars have messanic complexes?
i reckon there must be a way of seperating the false ones from your true ones, ie. the false ones will deny it venimously and claim to be just regular folk.
Your authentic messiahs will take shamanic drugs, be vegetarians, have a vast amount of people who don't like them cos they appear outspoken or opinionated and say something close to the truth, they will create rock music for smart people hence not be played on 'top of the pops' or whatever it is these days, and they will possibly incarnate as vishnu or some weird alien blog being, only to be (is)adored later, usually when Pepsi use them on their ads.
Love ya work.

Hey Steve why don't you go on a tour with Mark Gardener or Rob Dickinson? Maybe Kevin Shields could back you up too? Hey, maybe you could also forgo the Jack Frost/Isidore thing and cut an album with Ian McCulloch? Then the ego would really land - two guys who both claim they're the best songwriters in the world. Hey by the way when's that project you were doing with Sonic Boom coming out?

Ride? I once saw GOD during the fadeout of OX4.

She was doing a crossword. I was able to help her out with one down (before I went out like a light):

You look eloquent in praisely, is that OK!
No serioulsy though, I got a knee injury today from jogging and listerning to block, soon as the drums kick in, I start to sprint and my knee goes hows that, could be that first sports injury someone has got from a song, well it was my first anyway.
Yeah forgot to mention Ride as part of the great bands who played at the Palace early 90s, in my comment yesterday. Now that was a great gig! They had like this giant fan or was it a light or both , fuck I don't know it was years ago and I was probably off mah face.
Anyway thanks for bringing up that olde gem ride, forgot about them, have to dig that one out of storage.
"First you look so strong then you fade away", oh yeah baby its all flooding back now!
Thanks

an intake of breath from steve
stumbling out into the murky world of miracle street
it's the most immediate church song
and intimate
maybe these boys got something on their minds
and they're finding a way to tell ya
the tension builds
little guitar parts chip away
and slowly fill the silence
like a mere mountain trickle
growing into a big mighty flow
and then, just when you think
"oh, here it comes, they gonna rock now"
the flanged acoustic lullabies you into bliss
and deep space snyth arpeggios tickle your primordial stem
"...oh my god, this is fucking good! how do they do this EVERY TIME?!?!"
and then steve,
god, do you love him too??!?!
starts spillium
his observations and thanks you
you're distracted by some silly thought
"gee, this is the answer song to "welcome""
nah
it hits you
this song is going to rock live!
and you give in
you quit analyzing
you give in
toes tap
neurons form new pathways
and you internalize
and you fantasize
and you're transported
and damn
you fall in love all over again
and, mother of god,
this is only the first song on the CD?
easy baby

you seriously are the man, sk

Don't think I haven't noticed the ratings slide either, buddy-boy. If you really want that extra tub of beetroot dip on your rider, I suggest you stop it with the 'peace, love, we're all a vibration' shit and get back to slagging off the meat eaters. That's what the public want, godammit. It's all meat and potatoes, buddy boy.

p.s. I changed my mind. You're fired.

I did some catching up on reading your blog just prior to the Academy Awards- you know I had to see Crash upset the others.

I've been thinking about the Stones and how I loved the album 'Paint it Black' at the time. The brother who is your age taught me to dance to 'under my thumb'...what a groovy little number.

Yorn Utzon- what a man. Just after that Stones album came out, I used to think that the Sydney Opera House was one of the seven wonders of the world. That sounds like about the best vantage point- I hope you had your portrait taken with that background. If I had to chose between memory hits and cameras...I'd chose.....the gadget that creates a permanant legacy for all to see.

Steve, you ole silver bearded genius - Block is fookin' fantastic. The end.

Oh, btw, I'm with you on the shoegazer stuff, beautiful, beautiful music from Ride and MBV. Did you dig the stuff Kevin Shields did for the Lost In Translation soundtrack?

Oh MVB as in My Bloody Valentine, that took a while to sink in, bit slow today, fucking great album.
I heard somewhere and don't quote me, because you can't as I'm anonymous(but then again if you say some anonymous person said then I supose you could kinda)that it was one of the most expensive albums ever to make. What a jag and a drum machine? Really?
But then again editing was all tape and razors wasn't it,we have come such along way, now any dick with two grand can by an MBOX and a DL4, ebow and reverse the reverb can now make guitar art, then again maybe not.
I reckon MVB made the most stand alone album of the 90s, apart from everything the church did of course.
Speaking of 90s guitar Swervedriver where pretty good as was Honeys Dead by Jesus and Mary Chain.havn't heard the waves on that Ride album for years, good to see people here have taste,
Goodnight
You Bloggod you!

Steve,
Do you remember the greatest of Creation bands, the House of Love? Do you remember the review they got in Rolling Stone when they compared them to a half-baked Church and the Church to a half-baked Soft Boys? Wow. Someone really did their homework. I don't think those people even LIKE music. Is that part of the job description? oh, well, how much does it pay?
All the best,
Martin

Hi Brissy Babies -

Just a hopeful helpful hint in the search for Troub tix, I spoke to a Rocking Horse guy and he seemed to think this weekend they'd get tix or beginning of next week. Otherwise he thought maybe just show up at the door. Mayhem anyone?

rubikon said...

I kind of liked Mansun - they caught my ears a few years ago -I bought Little Kix - they were ok - had a bit of potential - but then i've always kind of liked bands who seem to have disappeared - Diesel Park West, This Picture, Scarlet Party, The Replicants, Doll by Doll - anyone remember any of those.....thought not.

I feel sorry for the guy playing bass for Oasis - I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.

sue cee said...

Rubikon - I LOVE Jackie Leven, that close enough?

rubikon said...

Sue c - About as close as you can get - I saw DOLL by DOLL live in 1980ish playing Palace of Love - they were truly awesome.

Kev said...

Aha, Vapour Trail, I used to run to that and other Ride. Goode one.

I think the best shoegazing to be had at the moment comes from Serena-Maneesh, the latest odd band of Norwegian gypsies. After a few cautious listens I'm happily accepting them as the suitable inheritors of MBV's Honey Power.
